About The Golden Visa?
Any citizen who is not part of the EU (European Union), EEA (European Economic Area) or Switzerland can be eligible to apply for the Golden Visa and residence in Portugal, provided they make a qualified investment.
The programme requires a minimum investment of €250,000 depending on the investment itself.
The categories available are:
The application can be made in either your name or through a European Union (EU) company which you own and will need to be maintained for a minimum of five years.
In addition to this, for the Golden Visa Programme, you will be required to spend a minimum of at least 7 days per year in Portugal. This increases to 14 days (consecutive or nonconsecutive) in each subsequent 2-year period.
The Golden Visa will also permit you to travel visa-free to any country within the Schengen area.
- Investment in the conservation of National Heritage, Arts and Culture of at least €250,000
- Creation of 10 new full-time jobs in a Portuguese company in the format of a single-member limited company (reduced to eight positions if in a low-density area)
- Investment in research conducted by accredited institutions forming part of the national scientific and technological system of at least €500,000
- Investment in an existing company registered in Portugal or at least €500,000 to incorporate or increase share capital and create at least 5 permanent full-time jobs for a minimum period of three years
- Investment of €500,000 in securities investment funds
It will also be possible to include your family members on the Golden Visa Programme provided that they are:
- Spouse or legal partner
- Children under 18 years of age
- Dependent children under the age of 26 provided they are unmarried and enrolled as full-time students
- Parents of either spouse who are over the age of 66 (or 55 and dependent)
- Siblings of either spouse or partner who are under 18 years of age, if legally responsible for them
